Trader Joe’s For the Win…With Teas

I have confessed this before and I have no shame in confessing it again to those of the World Wide Web. Here we go: I don’t like coffee. At all. Smells amazing, but the taste? Nope.

Tea on the other hand? I can drink that all day. Mmmmmmm!

My mom knows this to be true as well (weird right??? 😉 ) and so when I was home for Christmas, she bought me a little treat (A Tasting of Ten Teas) from Trader Joe’s (a store that never fails me) and I got more than a little bit excited. A bunch of loose leaf flavors to try? Don’t mind if I do!

I thought it would be fun to share my findings, in case you’re in the market for a fabulous cup of tea (and if you’re in Austin, I know some places!). Below are the flavors and what I thought of them.

Vanilla & Rooibos: I first encountered Roobios tea years ago while I was in Zambia and have enjoyed it since. I admit I didn’t really notice the vanilla in this one, but the Rooibos was quite good.

Raspberry Black Tea: I like raspberries, but not in strong doses, so this works great because you simply don’t use as much loose leaf or steep as long. A win.

Floral Herbal Infusion: I wish I had more tea-ish words in my vocabulary, but I don’t, so all I can say is it tasted like herbal tea. I know…deep.

Licorice Root & Ginger White Tea: By the name alone, I almost said nope (I kept thinking of black licorice and no ma’am), but since I’m a giver Internet I decided to go ahead and try it. I was duly put in my place because this ended being one of my favorites of the bunch!

Chai Spiced Black Tea: Chai tea isn’t exactly in my top five of favorite teas, so I usually don’t order it, buttt since it was part of this set, I made a cup. It actually was better than I expected, so if you’re a Chai fan, I think you’ll really enjoy this one.

Bergamot Black Tea: I didn’t know this was a key part of Earl Grey, but figured I try it anyway (not a huge fan of the Earl). And yep, tastes and smells exactly like Earl Grey tea.

Minty Green Tea: Every now and then I enjoy a minty cup of tea. This turned out to be just enough mint and to top it off, it’s Green tea, so I feel all kinds of healthy drinking it.

Lemongrass Rosehip Infusion: Sometimes it’s gonna be a no thanks. Sorry Lemongrass. It’s me.

Assam Black Tea: For as much as I love tea, there’s so much I don’t know. I had to google what this tea was all about. It’s a fabulous tasting tea and tastes exactly like English Breakfast Tea (which I learned is made from Assam), so win for tasting like it’s supposed to. I don’t have any other amazing thoughts to add ;), but this was the first tea to be all gone.

Gunpowder Green Tea: I’m not sure what this was going for, but it tastes like Green Tea. This is a good one to have if you want to drink Green Tea, but can’t handle a strong version (blogger raises her hand).

What about you? Coffee? Tea? Both? What’s your favorite flavor?
